Lanark signs new acts!!!
New signings in June!
Lanark has been very busy in the studio and sign more great acts to the Label, here is the rundown:
Screamin’ Rebel Angels
Lanark Records is about to release the fiercest, wildest example of untamed Rock ‘n Roll that is poised to resurrect the raw, primitive passions which first electrified audiences at the genres inception. After pounding the pavement of the gritty jungle of NYC, Lanark Records discovered a feral fuchsia-tressed bombshell ricocheting around stage with a Gretsch Guitar in hand, and satin and gravel in her voice, as part of the rockin’est foursome that Rock ‘n Roll Revival needs right now....Join us in welcoming Screamin’ Rebel Angels to the Lanark Records roster of stars!
Screamin’ Rebel Angels are a Rock ‘n Roll outfit hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Fronted by the dynamic soul-shouting, blues beltin’, sweet purring of vocalist / guitarist Laura Rebel Angel, paired with the blistering, stratospheric lead guitar of Brian “Bobo” Hack, the pounding and precise drums of Sean O’Connell and the driving rhythm and gallop of an upright bass. Their sound appeals to classic fans of Rockabilly, with a modern and authentic sound of their own sure to win over new crossover fans.
Molly Sue Gonzalez & The Mean, Mean Men
We are happy to announce the signing of Molly Sue Gonzalez & The Mean, Mean Men. From her early performing days as a teen in Hammondsville, OH opening for diverse artists such as Ronnie Milsap, Air Supply, Randy Travis & KC & The Sunshine Band to teaming up with bass player and band leader Vincent Wynne in 2011, Gonzalez has been tearing up the modern Rockabilly scene. Not only do they frequently play to enthusiastic crowds in their Nashville, TN hometown, they continue to tour all over the United States. The band’s name is a nod to the classic Wanda Jackson tune (“Mean, Mean Man”) and their style is in a similar groove to the Queen of Rockabilly.
Quentin Jones (The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns, The Rockats, Robert Gordon, Charlie Gracie, etc.) will be producing the new project due this Fall. The album will be a mixture of covers and originals and recorded with the famed “Sanco 500 process” for the cleanest highs and the warmest lows that Lanark has become known for. “I am thrilled to be working with Molly Sue Gonzalez & The Mean, Mean Men”, says Jones. “They are the hard-working kind of people that I want to continue to build this label around.”
Dr. Harmonica & Rockett 88
Lanark Records is thrilled to unleash the bluesy sounds of Dr. Harmonica & Rockett 88. Mark “Dr. Harmonica” Kenneally fronts the group with his big voice and his masterful harmonica playing. It’s like Howlin’ Wolf and Little Walter in one dynamite package! In the past, they’ve toured and played with the likes of James Cotton, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and many more! This Delaware-based band will bring their high-energy American roots sound to their first Lanark Records recording this summer. “This is a natural fit” says producer Quentin Jones of Lanark Records. “They’re authentic attention to the great American roots music attracted us immediately.”
Tweed and the Sugardaddies
Tweed and the Sugardaddies are Rocakabilly Troubadours. The band provides a vast array of authentic original material, but they also cover a diverse set of artists during their live shows. Major influences to the bands style include, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Elvis and Hank Williams as well as Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. The band is based out of central New Jersey, and has been playing the original circuit for ten years. What you can expect when you come to see this act live is a dynamic, tight knit group of capable musicians, having a rollicking good time on stage.
During the Month of June 2014, the band recently signed with Lanark Records. They cut their new ten- song CD at the Lanark, Lancaster studios and will release the CD mid-summer. Songs from the CD include long-time set staples: “Release Me” and “The Bottle” as well as brand new material including, “Real Gone Jerk”, “Is It True” and “Lonelier than Me”.
September starts the band’s Fall schedule with dates at the famous Roxy and Dukes Roadhouse (Dunellen, NJ) 9/12, and Tumulty’s Pub (New Brunswick, NJ) 9/20. The band is looking forward to a long relationship with Lanark Records and performing with its many cavalcade of stars in the near future.
